Over the past 20 years DJ Tom Select travelled across the globe and worked or lived in about 20 countries - and of course faced a huge variety of musical influences. Raised in the 80s in the southern part of Germany, DJ Tom Select developed his interest for music early on as a child because of his parents record collection. After constantly listening to the early Beatles records and Ringo Starr on the Drums, he started playing Drums before the age of ten and learned different instruments later on. Being fascinated by Jam Master Jay (DJ of Run DMC) on Television at the age of twelve, DJ Tom Select started DJing. He worked for/with different bands, live, in studios, at different Radio stations and played live sets at countless parties and events.

Nowadays he is pretty much focused on digging, collecting and playing Rare Groove, Northern Soul, Deep Funk, Beat Music, Gospel Funk, Dub, Reggae, Adult Hip Hop, Breaks, Chill-out and Lounge Music. Other than that he still loves mixing, cutting and scratching Rap and Hip Hop records, mostly from the 90s and early 2000s era. In addition DJ Tom Select can be booked for "Beat Sets" where he combines a classic DJ performance with live Instruments and live Beat Production on his Akai MPC 2000XL. He usually plays "Vinyl only" sets from actual Vinyl records he ships to the venue - but also uses Traktor Scratch for studio purposes and of course if travelling causes luggage restrictions.

Because he was an active part of the scene very early on, DJ Tom Select was heavily focused on Hip Hop music during the 90s and early 2000s. Throughout the past 20 years he was responsible for a lot of Hip Hop-, Rap- and Instrumental-Productions on Tape, Vinyl or CD as well as for a huge number of Mix- and Beat-Tapes. Making Beats became less of a personal challenge over the years though, more complex projects started to develop. Since 2010 the musical focus as a DJ switched. Amongst other endeavours, DJ Tom Select started working on a new band project called "NOAH AND THE BLIND PASSENGERS" which will represent a blend of different musical genres, recorded live with an original Trixon Telstar Drumset from the mid 60s, 2 Guitars, Bass, Piano, Turntables and an Akai MPC. DJ Tom Select was always a huge fan of the soulful Stax- and Motown-like Records of the late 60s and early 70s when music and all the effects or echos had to be recorded live and in an analog way. Hence, it was just a matter of time until this strong personal, musical background had to manifest in some sort of production off the beaten track - and beyond the restrictions of a musical genre like Hip Hop or DJing.

Due to a lack of labels and distribution infrastructure in his region, DJ Tom Select decided to found his own Record Label once he was old enough to do so. Since 1996 he runs a small Independent Label and Recording Studio in the southern part of Germany. In 2009 he extended his regular business and aquired an additional location in Zürich (Switzerland). Lost Hill Music constantly works with well-known Business- and Media-Partners such as Rough Trade, finetunes, The Orchard, Bandcamp, MKZwo Records, 24-96 Mastering, Sureshot Promotions, Holy Toledo Productions or HHV and provides professional services to independent artists and newcomers. The Lost Hill Recording Studio provides a classic, analog recording studio setup with a wide range of available tools, instruments and microphones and is centered around an Allen & Heath Mixing Console - and of course the mandatory Akai MPC 2000XL. The studio offers up to 48 channels in parallel for live recordings, a variety of editing tools, effects, two different recording rooms, separate guest bathroom, a comfortable lounge area and a full office infrastructure - for an affordable rate which supports independent artists and newcomers. DJ Tom Select orchestrates recording sessions with all types of bands or artists, provides suitable microphone setups for each instrument, amps and required hardware, IT integration and takes care for arrangement and mixdown.
